Carbon / Kevlar 60/40 Plain Weave

Carbon Kevlar Hybrid Fabric

Carbon Kevlar Hybrid Fabric combines the stiffness and strength of carbon fibre with the impact resistance and toughness of aramid (Kevlar®) fibre in a single reinforcement. The result is a lightweight composite fabric that offers an excellent balance of structural performance, durability, and cosmetic appearance.

Featuring the distinctive carbon/Kevlar weave pattern, this hybrid fabric is widely used in applications where both performance and visual finish matter.

  • Polyester resins

Why Use Carbon Kevlar Hybrid

Hybrid fabrics are ideal when you need the rigidity of carbon fibre but want improved resistance to impacts, chips, and abrasion. Kevlar fibres help absorb energy and reduce brittle failure, making the laminate tougher and more durable in demanding environments.

Compared to standard carbon fibre, Carbon Kevlar Hybrid provides:

  • Better impact resistance
  • Increased toughness
  • Improved vibration resistance
  • Unique visual appearance

Available Options

  • Twill weave constructions
  • Plain weave Construction
  • I weave Dog Bone Contruction
  • Yellow Kevlar or coloured hybrid options
  • Multiple roll widths available

Ironbark Tip

Carbon Kevlar can be more difficult to cut than standard carbon fibre. For best results:

  • Use dedicated composite shears
  • Apply peel ply during vacuum bagging for easier finishing
  • Pair with epoxy systems for maximum mechanical performance
